How Evokina uses your data
Evokina plans your food around your week. To do that it has to keep what you tell it. This page says what it keeps, why, who else sees any of it, and how to delete it.
Last updated 9 October 2026. Evokina is in private beta, so this page will change as the app does.
Who is responsible
Evokina is run by Simon Frewin, in the UK. He decides how your data is used and is the person to write to about it: simon@simonfrewin.com.
What Evokina keeps
- Your account: your name, your email address and your password. The password is scrambled before it is saved, so nobody can read it, including us.
- Your numbers: sex, year of birth, height, weight, how active you are, your goal, your training days and how long you like to cook. Any weigh-ins you log.
- Your food: your meal plans, your recipes and how you scored them, your shopping list and pantry, and anything you log as eaten or drunk.
- About your week: events you add, what you say you have on (training days, rest days, meals out), playbooks you start, and the "About you" answers, such as working away or who you cook for.
- If you choose to use them: the diary (energy, belly, mood, stress, symptoms and notes), the "Life after the jab" section (where you are with a weight-loss injection, and cravings you tap), questions you ask the coach and its answers, and anything you post in a community group.
- If you connect a calendar: the link to it, stored locked so that it cannot be read from the database. Evokina reads the title, place and time of a week's entries when you ask it to. It does not read the notes or the guests, and it does not keep the entries. Only what you tick is saved, as a training day, a meal out or an event. You can disconnect the calendar at any time from the Week screen, and the link is deleted.
- That you agreed: the date you ticked the box at sign-up, and whether you asked for emails.
Some of this is health information: your weight, what you eat, the diary, and anything about a weight-loss injection. Evokina keeps it only because you ticked the box at sign-up to say it could. You can take that back at any time by deleting your account.
Why
- To work out your calorie and protein targets and build a week of meals around them.
- To show you your own log, diary and progress.
- To keep your account secure and to fix things that break.
- To contact you about the beta. To send you updates, only if you ticked that box.
Your data is not sold, and it is not used to show you adverts.
Who else sees any of it
- Cloudflare runs the app and holds the database, which sits in Western Europe. If you use the microphone to tell Evokina about your week, the recording is sent to Cloudflare's speech-to-text service to be turned into words. Evokina does not keep the recording. This only happens when the AI features are on.
- Anthropic makes the AI model Evokina uses. Nothing is sent to it unless you have turned the AI features on, at sign-up or when the app asks, and you can turn them off again in Settings. When they are on, this is what is sent, and when: for the coach's daily note, your questions to the coach and the lunch suggestion, the facts that answer needs, for example today's targets and meals, your "About you" answers, the stage you gave in "Life after the jab", your question, and your first name; for a photo estimate, the photo and any note you add, and the photo is not kept by Evokina; for the recipe writer, your targets, cooking time and skill, foods you avoid and the names of recipes you scored highly; when you add or import a recipe, its title, ingredient lines and the text of the page it came from; when your shopping list is built, ingredient lines that could not be matched; when you tell Evokina about your week, the words you said or typed, the dates of that week and your usual training days; and when you ask it to check a calendar you have connected, the title, place, day, time and length of that week's entries, so it can pick out training, meals out and time away. Your email address and password are never sent. With the AI features off, the coach's note is written from fixed rules, recipes are read without tidying, and none of this is sent.
- Go High Level is the contact list Simon uses to keep in touch with people. It receives your name and email address, a note that you are a Evokina tester, and a few plain markers of how you are using the app, such as whether you have set it up or planned a week. It never receives your weight, what you eat, your diary or anything else about your health.
- Your calendar provider (Google, Apple or Microsoft, whichever the link belongs to) is asked for the calendar when you tap "Check my calendar". It sees a request from Evokina's server, not from your phone.
- Google Fonts supplies the typeface, so your phone or computer asks Google for the font files when the app opens.
- Other people in a community group see what you post there, under your first name. Nothing else about you is shown to them. If a post is reported, the people who look after the groups see it, your first name and what was reported.
If you tap through to a supermarket or a map, that site sees what you searched for, as it would if you had typed it there yourself.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. The app also remembers a few settings on your own device, such as which screen you were last on. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long it is kept, and how to delete it
Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. To delete it, open Settings in the app and choose "Delete my account". Everything is removed straight away and cannot be brought back. Cloudflare keeps restore points of the database for a short time, up to 30 days, after which the deleted data is gone from those as well. Your entry in the contact list is marked for removal and taken out by hand.
If you cannot get into your account, email simon@simonfrewin.com from the address you signed up with and it will be deleted for you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what Evokina holds about you, ask for anything wrong to be put right, ask for it to be deleted, or ask us to stop using it. Email simon@simonfrewin.com. If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Two more things
- Evokina is for adults. You need to be 18 or over to use it.
- Evokina is about food and habits. It is not medical advice. For anything medical, including any medicine you take, speak to your GP or the person who prescribes it.
